This complex site – which will see 460 new residences created alongside an office block – requires two multi-storey car parks to remain operational throughout the construction process. We were appointed to deliver extensive mini piling works under restricted access conditions to an existing basement car park serving a supermarket.

100 West Cromwell Road — 700 piles in restricted basement

Value Engineering: Restricted Access

Over 700 piles were installed, with the majority being installed in the existing basement and others in close proximity to railway tracks. Our solution incorporated 600 mm diameter piles which could be installed by our mini piling fleet within the available working headroom of 5 metres.

We provided value engineering by reducing some of the pile diameters to 450 mm to enable multiple rigs to operate simultaneously and reduce embodied carbon. Additional piles were installed for tower cranes, as well as temporary contiguous and king post piles of between 300 mm and 600 mm diameter.
